A wealthy Florida business owner shot his wife and two teenage children in the head, before setting the mansion where they lived on fire and killing himself.

The man has been identified as 49-year-old Darrin Campbell. Officials say that he poured gasoline and placed fireworks around their rented mansion before setting the home ablaze on Wednesday. According to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Col. Donna Lusczynski, Campbell had purchased over $650 worth of fireworks in addition to gas cans and gasoline three days before the tragedy, Gawker reported.

"Based on the findings of the medical examiner and our investigation, it has been determined to be a murder-suicide," Lusczynski said at a news conference on Friday, according to The Guardian.

"Darrin Campbell, with the gun that was registered to him, a .40 Sig Sauer, systematically shot his son, his daughter and his wife in the head. He then placed fireworks throughout the residence, used an accelerant to assist in lighting the fire, lit the fire and then shot himself," she said.

"We don't know the order in which this occurred and I don't know if we'll ever be able to determine that. We also don't know why this occurred," she added.

Investigators are looking to find a motive as to why Campbell killed his wife, Kimberly, 19-year-old son Colin Campbell and teenage daughter Megan with his .40-caliber firearm.

"This is certainly disturbing," Lusczynski said, according to the The Associated Press.

The Campbells had been renting the 6,000-square-foot home in Tampa's exclusive Avila Golf and Country Club from former professional tennis player James Blake..

The business executive worked at several high-profile companies, including PODS, the mobile storage company. Most recently, he worked at a records management firm and volunteered to be the treasurer at his children's private school.
