Two-time mirror ball champion Julianne Hough will return to “Dancing With the Stars” Season 23. This time, the champion will not be on the dance fall.

Instead, she will join the line of judges to pick out next season’s winner.

Derek Hough Leaving Dancing With the Stars

Meanwhile, Derek Hough is leaving the show to focus on “Hairspray!” Live. The show is set to premiere on Dec. 7 so he is hard at work right now.

“As much as dwts doesn't feel like our very own dwts without Derek, I'm still happy that he's not joining this season though with Singing in the Rain and Hairspray in his books,” Facebook User Livia Khan said. “The last time he tried juggling so many things together with Nastia, he was left totally exhausted!”

Michael Phelps Asked to Join Dancing With the Stars

Just as some season favorites are leaving the show, big stars are being asked to join.

Showrunners asked 22-time Olympic medalist Michael Phelps to join “Dancing With the Stars” Season 23, as he is approaching his big competition in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

“Michael has been asked before (to do “DWTS”) and he was recently asked [to compete in] the upcoming season,” a source tells Hollywood Life. “And though he has considered it, he doesn’t want to do it; he wants his legacy to be in the pool and not on the dance floor.”

Teresa Guidice to Join Dancing With the Stars

Phelps’ decline might be valid for “Dancing With the Stars” Season 23, but no one knows what the future holds.

“Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice is joining “Dancing With the Stars” Season 23, and she declined the offer when she was first asked in the past.

She denied the invitation because she was busy filming the show and raising four kids. Now she has more time on her hands.

Maybe Phelps will make an appearance when he has retired from doing laps in the pool.

Dancing With the Stars Season 23 Rumored Judges

As for the judges, pop stars Pitbull and Shakira might join the line of judges along with Julianne Hough.
