USA vs. Sweden Olympics 2016 Quarterfinals Live Stream, Preview, Predictions As USWNT Looks For Big Win
The US Women's National Team will take on Sweden's in the quarterfinals of the Olympics on Friday.
It hasn't always been as easy as many expected for the reigning champions of this competition. The Americans managed to get seven points from the group stage, but none of the matches wound up being the blowouts many expected. The opening game was a tame 2-0 win over New Zealand while the follow-up was a tough 1-0 win over France. When faced with low-ranked Colombia, the US fell behind, took a 2-1 lead and then blew it in the final minute to settle for a 2-2 draw. The team knows that it needs to be better as a semifinal with a hot Brazilian side is highly probable.
Now they take on a Swedish side that has been far from impressive, winning one, losing one and drawing one match. The lone victory came over South Africa, a 1-0 affair. But the team was destroyed 5-1 by Brazil and should be susceptible to the Americans.
Prediction
The USA women's team is too good to overlook and should have no trouble destroying Sweden 5-1.
Start Time
The match between the USA and Sweden kicks off at 12 p.m. EDT.
