Sporting CP and Borussia Dortmund face off in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday.

This match could very well decide second place in this group. Despite Real Madrid's early struggles, few believe that the defending champs will fail to win this group. That puts Sporting and Dortmund in a tricky situation as they vie for second place.

The Portuguese side managed a shocking 2-1 loss at Madrid in its opener, despite being a few minutes away from winning the game 1-0. The team then took care of business at home against Legia Warsaw, winning 2-0.

Dortmund defeated Legia Warsaw 6-0 in its UCL debut but then drew 2-2 with Madrid at home, putting it at a disadvantage thanks to the away goals in head to head competition. Dortmund could still win out and top Madrid at the Bernabeu to clinch the top spot in the group, but that might be a tough proposition.

Prediction

This will be a tremendous match with Dortmund showcasing its speed and Sporting playing a compact defensive style that almost saw it defeat Real Madrid. In the end a 1-1 draw is likely.
