Marvel has done a great job in perfecting the crafting of cinematic universe that is being tried by several studios in their way to impressive story telling. Following DC, Universal studios' latest upcoming film starring Tom Cruise as the main man in The Mummy, has been rumored to start the series.

According to The Verge, Universal is really serious in pulling off a cinematic universe starring their own monsters such as in The Mummy film, Wolf Man, Invisible Man and others. The trailer for The Mummy has Russell Crowe narrating saying that "Welcome to a new world of gods and monsters" which can only be an indication of the franchise.

Basically, it is a way of storytelling wherein monsters can be crossed overs which originated with the Universal. In the interview, the first monster cross overs started in 1943 with Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man and followed up with House of Dracula and even House of Frankenstein. However, only the Marvel studios were able to pull off such tremendous cinematic universe.

As University Herald wrote, Kurtzman, director of the upcoming film The Mummy, revealed the information with Dracula, Creatures from the Black Lagoon, Abraham Van Helsing, The Invisible Man and others will get their own turn in the spotlight. It was also reported that Kurtzman's approach is to detail the monsters in standalone film rather than combining them such as Warner Bros approach in the DC Extended Universe.

Regarding the film, Tom Cruise is starring as Nick Morton, a military leader, and was tasked to halt Sofia Boutella in destroying the city of London. The Mummy will also have Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll, who is part of a so-called group Prodigium whose task is to locate gods and monsters. His role has been relatedly compared to Marvel's Nick Fury.

The Mummy is slated to hit theaters on June 9, 2017 while a rumor for The Invisible Man is set for 2018 with Johnny Depp being considered as lead.
