John Cena has proven to be the face of the WWE in recent years. Yet it seems that fans will be seeing less of him, as he will be out for some time to film movies in 2017. Vince McMahon, however, seems to be displeased with this move.

As GameNGuide reports, the Doctor of Thuganomics will be headlining a movie alongside Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz. Titled "The Pact", the movie will focus on parents trying to prevent their daughters from doing something crazy on prom night. It is implied that this is one of the reasons his 2017 schedule for WWE is only six months, and as a part-timer. This comes after being sidelined for the most part of 2016 due to a shoulder injury.

Known for his tagline "U can't see me", he has been appearing outside the squared-circle more and more, making appearances on several TV shows and movies, the most recent would be hosting Saturday Night Live on December 10. He even has his own TV series (American Grit) on the Discovery Network, which had just finished taping its second season.

In light of this branching out, the WWE bigwigs seem to be concerned for their "golden boy". Vince McMahon, who helms the organization, is reportedly upset with the star's lateral movement. The 15-time WWE World Champion is currently scheduled to face either the Undertaker or AJ Styles, and is on the run for a Wrestlemania match. Knowing that he would be out for the most part of the year, McMahon may make some changes to address the issue. It would be interesting, though, if Cena still ends up with the title, as it makes him at par with the Ric Flair, aka "The Nature Boy".

Inquisitr adds that there are reports suggesting that Cena and the WWE management are at odds with each other. Though still being loyal to the company, he reportedly feels taken for grated, as part-timers like Lesnar, The Rock and Goldberg are getting more attention (and money) recently.

If Cena goes full-time Hollywood, he will be joining the ranks of Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock), who recently played as Maui in Disney's Moana, and Dave Bautista (aka Batista), who reprises his role as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, WWE superstars who are now Hollywood superstars as well.
