"Super Mario Run" is coming to iOS and Android devices on December 15, 2016. Nintendo's newest mobile game has been hyped up to be playable with only one hand. However, the gaming company has decided to keep the game more secure by only allowing "Super Mario Run" to be played with an internet connection.

Nintendo's "Super Mario Run" Piracy Concern

In an interview with Mashable, "Super Mario Run" producer Shigeru Miyamoto reveals that there is no offline mode for the game. Players need to be connected to the internet in order to play and save their progress via a Nintendo Cloud account. This move is Nintendo's effort to protect "Super Mario Run" from software piracy.

"Super Mario Run" has three game modes including World Tour, Rally, and Kingdom. Nintendo initially intended for World Tour to be playable offline but all three modes are interconnected and would complicate the game as the other two modes would need an internet connection.

"Super Mario Run" Game Mechanics

In the game, players can choose either to play as Mario, Luigi, Toad or Yoshi. The reason why "Super Mario Run" is playable with one hand is because the character in the game only runs forward. Players will only need to press one button in order to let Mario jump, get coins and reach their destination while avoiding roadblocks and enemies.

"Super Mario Run" Release Date and News

"Super Mario Run" is free and will be available to download for iOS and Android devices starting December 15. Not all levels are free to play and for those who would want complete access to the game, they will need to pay a one-time fee of $10, 9to5Mac notes.
