The Mars One plan is set to be on 2032 and there is no stopping on the selection of twenty-four fateful astronauts from thousands of hopeful candidates worldwide. And they are all volunteers eager to take on the summons of their mind and heart as they earn the title of the last astronauts to go one way to Mars. Careful selections are underway for the chosen candidates such as interviews, group work and lastly to stay on mocked-up Mars habitats as they prepare for their most challenging job.

There are, at this point, a total of 660 candidates competing for a chance to go and live on Mars forever in a recent report by Pulse Headlines. They are already undergoing rough training on the slopes of Hawaii which has the same soil compositions at that on Mars while carrying heavy equipment. To better help the trainees on their 2024 mission, Mars One will be sending a lander to Mars to try on the tools and technologic mechanisms they will be using, together with a satellite for communicating on Earth via electronic messages.

A rover will then be send off to Mars to search for a suitable landing spot, as discovered to be on the far north part where there is ample amount of water, and equatorial sufficient to have bountiful sunlight. The first target launch is set on 2022, with two male and two female on board, with them are two living units and two life supports each carrying breathable atmosphere, 3,000 liters of water, and 120kg of oxygen kept in storage. All these packages and more for the first launch would actually cost $6bn, making the expenses more stringent, thus a delay in the mission from 2024 to 2031, as Nature World News reports.

As the years move in nearing the planned Mars colony, certain things have yet to be done to ensure that the mission is technologically safe and ready. Mars One needs both the intelligent mind and the generous heart for donations, sponsorship, and philanthropic investors to push through with this daring and almost impossible endeavor.
