Due for release on June 6 in the U.S. and June 20 in the U.K., "The Fault in Our Stars" is about the meeting of two teenagers at a cancer support group. The film is based on John Green's popular novel of the same title. The book, published in 2012, was inspired by Green's experiences in a children's hospital where he became a student chaplain. It was an instant success from day one of its release, having sold more than 1 million copies and counting.

Sharing the same insights, the film's lead characters Hazel and Gus hate the traditional but share the same passion that brought them to one purpose. Gus wears a prosthetic leg while Hazel is always with her oxygen tank.

The movie trailer shows Gus and Hazel seated in front of each other doing a toast and sipping champagne. Directing the script written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber is Josh Boone. It is produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey with Michele Imperato and Isaac Klausner as executive producers. Bert Nijdam is the line producer in Amsterdam.

The cast of the movie includes Shailene Woodley as Hazel Grace Lancaster, Ansel Elgort as Augustus Waters, Willem Dafoe as Peter Van Houten, Nat Wolff as Isaac, Lotte Verbeek as Lidewij Vliegenthart, Laura Dern as Mrs. Lancaster, Sam Trammell as Mr. Lancaster, Mike Birbiglia as Patrick, Emily Peachey as Monica, Sophie Guest as Jackie, Milica Govich as Mrs. Walters, Johanna McGinley as Eva, Allegra Carpenter the Hostess, David Whalen as Mr. Waters, Ana Dela Cruz as Dr. Maria, Wyatt McClure as Gabriel and Bethany Leo as a Cancer Support Group member.
