Samsung will be releasing a new set of phones for their Galaxy S-series in 2017. The Korean company will reportedly introduce the Galaxy S8 Edge and the Galaxy S8 Plus during a New York event in April of next year instead of during the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) in late February.

Tech companies usually wait for MWC 2017 to unveil their flagship lines but instead Samsung will wait for April to unveil their Galaxy S8 Edge and Galaxy S8 Plus phones to the public. According to Phone Arena, if Samsung pushes through with the April event there is a good chance that consumers will get their hands on the Galaxy S8 Edge and Galaxy S8 Plus on the next month which is May.

Following the Galaxy Note 7 mishaps and the recall news, the outlet posits that Samsung is hoping to restore the loyalty of their fans. This may be why Samsung is waiting until the last possible time to reveal their Galaxy S8 Edge and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones.

As for the specs of Samsung's newest flaghsip, PC Advisor reports that the company may no longer cater to smartphones with flat displays in the future which are why they started with Galaxy S8 Edge and Galaxy S8 Edge Plus.

The Galaxy S8 Edge and S8 Plus will reportedly have 5.7 abd 6.2 inches displays respectively. Both smartphones will ship with Android 7.1 Nougat and will house either Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 depending on which region it is sold.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge and S8 Plus may have 6GB or 8GB RAM with USB-C ports and fingerprint scanners to replace the home button. Both units will rumoredly have autofocus selfie cams but the S8 Plus will have dual-camera.

As for the price, the Galaxy S8 Edge will reportedly cost around 700 USD while the S8 Plus will be priced at around 850 USD. However, Samsung has not confirmed or denied the rumors in terms of price and specs. The company has not released any official announcements so far.
