'Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood' News & Updates: Square Enix Announces Expansion Release On June 20
Last October, Square Enix announced an expansion release for its massively popular MMORPG game “Final Fantasy XIV” at Fan Fest 2016 in Las Vegas. The date has been revealed and the release will be on June 20 next year.
It will be released in North America, Europe, and Japan. Square Enix terminated its support on PlayStation 3 platform but will have free support for migrating players to PlayStation 4, as per GameSpot.
In this release comes a collector’s edition and will include a special package featuring original art by Yoshitaka Amano. Exclusive high-quality Zenos figure and Stormblood art book will also be included in the collector’s edition. Other additions are Cloth map of Eorzea and Original Decal. In the game bonuses are items Syldra Mount, Wind-up Bartz Minion and Red Mage Main Arm: Chicken Knife, according to Gematsu.
New job set will be available in the game, called “Red Mage”. A Red Mage, in traditional "Final Fantasy" universe definition, is somewhat a combination of Black Mage and White Mage. It can use both Dark and White magic and can also be equipped with different kind of weapons and armors. A Red Mage is a jack of all trade but a master of none.
It’s ranged attacks use magic (red magic + black & white magic hybrid), and its melee attacks use the rapier. It is a hybrid ranged / melee style achieved via high-speed positioning that can deal massive damage by linking multiple spells with chain spell and following them up with melee attacks. Its starting level is 50 and it doesn’t have an associated class.
There are also new swimming actions, but the new animations are not available is some bodies of water. Both animations will be slower than walking or running, unlike the mechanics in Pokemon games. There is also no combat that will appear while swimming. There will also be a “dive mode” in selected parts of water.
A new beast tribe called “The Ananta” will also be available. They are mostly females that inhabit the mountains near Ala Mhigo. They are known for their skill in spell- and gem craft. Their goddess is known to be “Lakshimi, the Lady of Bliss.” New raids will be available as well, “The Bend of Time – Omega” and “Return to Ivalice.”
