Angela Bassett, 55, will continue to make her mark for portraying and now directing creative works about the world's most iconic people.

At first, she was "Rolling On the River" as the legendary Tina Turner. Then, she stood for her rights as Rosa Parks in "The Rosa Parks Story." Now, she's set to direct a Lifetime Movie about the late and always great Whitney Houston. Variety reported that this will be Bassett's first time in the director's chair. The biopic, tentatively titled "Whitney Houston," is set to premiere on the women's movie network some time in 2015.

Although the movie will be a biography on Houston's life, the highlight of the movie will be centered around Houston's rollercoaster relationship with fellow singer, Bobby Brown. Looks like Bassett is taking a page from her movie "What Love Got To Do With It?," which focused on the tumultuous relationship between Turner and her abusive husband Ike Turner.

The movie's official statement reads, "The pic chronicles the headline-making relationship between the iconic singer, actress, producer and model, and singer-songwriter Bobby Brown -- from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity to their courtship and tumultuous marriage."

The "Whitney Houston" movie will reportedly be produced by The Sanitsky Company and executive produced by Larry Sanitsky. The film's writer is Shem Bitterman.

So what inspired Bassett to be apart of the upcoming Lifetime movie? Well, because, like many of us, Bassett loves Whitney and her incredible talent.

"I have such regard for both Whitney's and Bobby's amazing talents and accomplishments, and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story," Bassett said in a statement. "Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I'm beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world."
