Despite the lack of any official news from game developer Rockstar Games, some Twitter sources remain confident that Grand Theft Auto V will be released on Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One this year.

Gaming site Gamepur reports that it spoke with an "industry insider," a person under the Twitter handle Shinobi602, about details on whether or not Grand Theft Auto V will be released on the next-gen consoles this year.

"No idea mate," he reportedly responded. "Though they do have a game set for this year, I'd imagine that to be it."

That may not be the most promising guarantee, however, another gaming site, Gearnuke, confirms that Shinobi602 "has been quite reliable with his leaks recently."

Meanwhile, another "industry insider" has been talking via Twitter about the possibility of Grand Theft Auto V coming out on the latest consoles as well. According to Ahsan Rasheed, a remastered version of the game will drop this year.

"The only remaster this year that will sell in excess of 4 million is the one, the only, Grand Theft Auto 5," he tweeted via his thuway handle.

Rasheed unfortunately left out an announcement or release date, however.

The source also claimed to know some interesting details about other popular video games.

"If people are clinging onto Sunset Overdrive, the Last of Us HD, and Halo ports as the 'breakout titles of 2014' I hate to break it guys ..." he tweeted. "It's not happening."

Some gamers maintain hope that a big Grand Theft Auto V announcement will be made at the E3 conference, which will be held from June 10-12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

"Grand Theft Auto V should ultimately be confirmed as one of the least kept secrets of E3 2014, with Rockstar expected to reveal Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC ports this year's show," International Digital Times predicted.
