Miami Heat News: Willie Reed Benched Because Of His Ankle Bursitis
Willie Reed is not going to travel with the Miami Heat for Monday's game as per the reports. The reason for this change of plans has been stated as bursitis in his right ankle.
While the backup center for the Miami Heat, Willie Reed has started rehab after being diagnosed with the condition of an inflamed bursa sac, veteran Udonis Haslem is preparing for extended minutes tonight in Dallas. The 6-foot-11 Willie Reed suffered the injury on Saturday against the Indiana Pacers, though was not seen wearing a boot but the injury to his right ankle has him listed as day-to-day.
Willie Reed got injured during the fourth quarter of Miami's win over Indiana on Saturday and limped around for several seconds. The player went down after a while when he was in obvious pain and eventually was carted off the court, reports ESPN.
An MRI was conducted on Sunday which offered a significant level of relief to the Miami Heat regarding the injury. The backup center Willie Reed was wheeled of off the court during the fourth quarter of Saturday's victory over the Indiana Pacers at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
The Miami Heat originally told the reporters that Reed had a calf strain but changed its statement after the MRI report showed otherwise. The player is currently on crutches to give some rest to his ankle and will miss Monday's game at Dallas and will be listed as day to day beyond that, reports NBA.
Willie Reed's injury means that Miami Heat will have 11 players available on Monday, with four forwards or centers all out. Chris Bosh is likely to be in the team whereas Justise Winslow is expected to miss the rest of the season because of his shoulder injury.
