‘Logan’ To Earn A Whopping $70 Million On Opening Day; Biggest Debut Of The Year Till Date
Hugh Jackman recently bid adieu to "Wolverine" franchise with his latest film "Logan". The R-rated Marvel anti-hero flick is going to make the biggest debut of 2017.
According to Variety, "Logan" will open across 4,071 screens and is expected to earn $70 million during its debut. However, Fox Studios is predicting a little less but still an opening in the mid-$60 million range.
"Logan" has already made headlines for being darker and R-rated, unlike other X-Men movies till date. The story follows Hugh Jackman's Wolverine during his hide-out with Professor Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart.
The battle-weary wolverine is, however, forced out of his secluded location to protect a young mutant."Logan" has its fair share of brutal violence, hence the adult rating, and now has a more constricted audience of adult only fans. It may not be a bad thing since just last year "Deadpool" managed a whopping $760 million global earnings, despite its violence and use of profanity.
"Logan" is expected to outpace even "Deadpool". Plus it also has a high chance of leaving behind all X-Men ensemble movies and all previous Wolverine spinoffs when it comes to box-office earnings. "Logan" has a pretty normal budget of $97 million, like most of the superhero movies.
"Logan" star Hugh Jackman is an Australian and as noted by The Times of India, an avid cricket fan. The 48-year old thus asked the Indian cricket team to "sharpen their claws" as they are all set to face the Aussie team.
Jackman wasn't reluctant to rub in the recent loss suffered by the Indian team in the hands of the Australian counterparts. However, the humble man he is, Jackman also encouraged the Indian cricket team and is expecting that they will play bolder than ever in the upcoming matches. "Logan" will hit theaters on March 4, 2017.
