There are already previous studies suggesting that microalgae could be a potential source of biofuel and in those studies, hurdles are at best. But according to a new proposed research, a new method has been discovered and might be on the horizon.

Modern civilization can't deny the fact that fossil fuel is now one of the most used fuel for energy generation. But fossil fuel has its own disadvantage and can threaten the Earth and its positivity. Reports claimed that using this kind of fuel can only bring pollution to the environment and is a nonrenewable energy source.

Now, Bendy Estima, a biomedical and chemical engineering Ph.D at Syracuse University claimed that a new method is now under work. Estime claimed that the new research proposes a new way to grow and harvest the microalgae. According to his microalgae needs to grow in a confined environment, wherein the mixing cost and other problems referring to growing microalgae.

Further, Estime stated that by the simplification of the microalgae biomass, the harvesting seems to become easy and more outstanding. The proposal includes several bottlenecks with microalgae cultivation. The Science Times stated that due to the tendency of microalgae's capability of sticking to the wall of the container, blocking necessary light significant for its growth.

After securing microalgae not to block the light, there is a need of constant stirring to make sure the light reaches its rightful place. For the final task, separate the algae from the "broth." Estime has developed the neat transition of growth medium called Tris-Acetate-Phosphate-Pluronic or the TAPP.

TAPP can transit from a solution into a gel with just a minute difference in temperature. When seeded, it is to keep at 15 degree Celsius and makes it a solution. Reports suggest the Estime's proposed method could result in microalgae harvested at 10x the speed of the previous system, Phys Org has reported.

TAPP is in a manner of highly energy-efficient when compared to the traditional systems. He stated that his technology will be a primary application of a microalgae biomass production for the nutraceutical applications and pharmaceutical applications but can also belong in biofouling control. - ksjd
