Report: Cuba's Raul Castro Blasts Donald Trump's Mexican Wall And Trade Policy
The Cuban President Raul Castro criticized Donald Trump proposal of building a wall on the Mexican border and called it "irrational" and affects all Latin America. Besides this, the Cuban president criticized Trump's immigration, trade, and other policies also.
According to REUTERS, the first critical remarks directed at Trump since he took office, Castro termed his trade policies "egotistical". On the 14th summit of the Bolivarian Alliance, he criticized the Trump proposed policy and stated the policy not only against the brother country but against our entire region.
The Cuban leader delivered the speech in Caracas at the 14th summit of Bolivian Alliance, also known as ALBA-TCP. Castro's speech in Venezuela was broadcast by state-run television on Sunday evening.
However, Trump threatened to torpedo the detente between the former Cold war foes unless a "better deal" could be struck. The White House last month reported it was in the middle of "a full review of all US policies towards Cuba.
The Cuban president Castro has stated that the new agenda of the US government aims to "unleash an extreme and selfish economic protectionism that will have an impact foreign trade. At the same time, the new proposal will violate environmental agreements, hunt down and deport migrants.
The migration was due to growing inequality and poverty by an unjust international economic system. The proposed wall on the Mexican border was, therefore "irrational" and aimed at all Latin American, not just only Mexicans, Cuban President reported.
Telesur TV has reported, more than 50 years of U.S efforts using isolation to force Cuba to change, the last president Obama agreed with Castro in December 2014 to work to normalize the relations. The two close neighbors have since restored diplomatic ties and cooperation agreement.
However, the Cuban president also expressed his support to former Brazilian president Dilemma Rousseff, and Luis Inacio and former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez. He also assured Cuba will continue to support the outgoing president of Ecuador.
