'No Man's Sky' Update: Huge Patch Out Now, Adds New Features To The Game & A Lot More
After announcing it earlier this week, Hello Games has officially launched today a big new update for "No Man's Sky." Called as the "Path Finder Update," this new patch adds new vehicles, base-sharing, a permadeath mode, an all-new ship and weapon specialization system, and even PlayStation 4 Pro support, among other things.
According to GameSpot, the update has been detailed on the official "No Man's Sky" website and through the announcement video that was recently uploaded on the said website. With the new update applied to the game, "No Man's Sky" should look way better than ever on every PlayStation 4, as a number of new graphics features and enhancements have also been added.
These include new graphics features would include a more accurate Ambient lighting, high and ultra-high resolution textures, high contrast lighting effects, horizon-based ambient occlusion, HDR mode for compatible monitors and televisions, and so much more. With regards to PlayStation 4 Pro-specific features, players can also expect 4K resolution since this was the only PlayStation 4 Pro feature that was announced for "No Man's Sky."
As for the base-sharing feature, this would let players share their base across the internet. According to Eurogamer, players can do this with Steam Workshop, which they can use to find and rate other players' bases.
The ship specialization feature has been broken down into four categories: Hauler, Shuttle, Explorer, and Fighter. Shuttles are all-rounded ships, Fighters specialize more on combat, Haulers have expanded cargo holds, and Science vessels have increased warp capabilities.
Additionally, all ships and ship types are now rated by class: A, B, C, or S, which is the rarest. Players, on the other hand, now have the option of trading away their current ship for a discount when they want to buy a new one.
Last week, "No Man's Sky" just won the Innovation award at the Game Developers Choice Awards. This update is just the beginning of more improvements to come to the game.
