'Pokémon GO' Update: Niantic Making Another Effort In Ridding Off Third-party Apps, Banning Third-Party Calculator Users
It seems that Niantic Labs is fully determined in wanting "Pokémon Go" players to get rid of their third-party apps for the famous augmented reality mobile game. The software developer just recently rolled out yet another new warning that strongly advises players to stop using such apps in threat of having their accounts permanently banned.
Just this Tuesday, Reddit user fiancepeas shared the notification she got from Niantic. On her posts, it says that Niantic has "detected activity on your account that would suggest you or someone accessing your account are using modified third-party client or unauthorized third-party software which accesses 'Pokémon GO' in violation of our Terms of Service."
According to The International Business Times' report on the issue, the notification has also included a warning that discourages fiancepeas from using the third-party software. As the note continues, "Be aware that further use such software can potentially result in the loss of your account. We strongly encourage you to stop if you have been using such software"
The Silph Road's dronpes even verified the notification as a legitimate in-game message for all "Pokémon Go" Trainers. The Redditor then explained that the notification could have been sent to selected players who are suspected of using illegal apps to inform them that the use of third-party apps like maps, IV checkers or calculators are strictly prohibited.
According to Kodoom, Dronpes further said that that one way to avoid this warning is by completely not using any unauthorized third-party apps. Dronpes also indicated that if one player happens to receive such notice, he or she should change the PTC password in order to ensure that no third-party app is accessing their account.
In another subreddit thread that was initiated by a user with the handle Xilc, other Pokémon Trainers have discussed Niantic flagging accounts of players who are suspected of using any type of IV calculator as unfairly playing the game or is simpler terms, cheating. While some Trainers are claiming that using IV calculators is not a form of cheating whatsoever, Niantic is pretty much firm with their decision in ridding of any type of third-party app that can potentially alter how the game is supposed to be played.
