"The Vampire Diaries" officially wrapped up and achieved to bring back several of its old characters. But there was one thing Julie Plec wasn't able to convey to the story and the original ending of the series could've been more devastating.

According to Julie Plec, the showrunner of "The Vampire Diaries," she revealed the ultimate thread that the show didn't answer till the end. Plec has tried for over years but couldn't find a way to learn what Sheriff Forbes might write in the letter that Caroline burned.

Plec was referring to the letter that Liz wrote for her daughter before dying in the season 6. Caroline then promptly burned the letter when her humanity was turned off in "The Vampire Diaries," which Plec regretted so much. They have come up with several bad pitches but still, couldn't figure out, Entertainment Weekly has reported.

One thing that Julie Plec wished they have done in "The Vampire Diaries," is one last decade dance. "I really wish we could have done another decade dance in this final season," Plec says "It felt like it was the right time to bring that back around." Plec also revealed that it was her little regret as he promised at the beginning of the season that fans will get a lot of decade dancing again.

"We broke an episode with a decade dance but that story line got aside for other things," Plac explained. "It was the one Ian directed, 808, where there was supposed a decade dance but couldn't make it work."

Back in Season 2 wherein Plec and Williamson already plotted the ending of 'The Vampire Diaries." The two revealed that the original ending was more tragic compared to fans witness recently. Stefan and Damon supposed to die in order to save Elena, the girl they both love, TV Guide has reported.

"Kevin and I were both sitting in the mall fallen in love in the series," Plec explaining how they come up with the original ending idea of the series. "When all is said and done, both brothers should die in saving their girl and be watching her as ghosts as they had introduced the other side."

Williamson and Plec originally planned Elena to marry Matt Donovan or she becomes a doctor while the two brothers watching her lived. But again, it is good that "The Vampire Diaries" have ended the best way of Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson. Stefan sacrificed while Damon lived a human life, most especially the two both found redemption and peace.
