'Baby Driver' Film Review: Edgar Wright's First Ever Action Musical
A new crime-flick love story entitled "Baby Driver" is already made on its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, which gives a positive drawing and a big applause from the crowd at Austin's Paramount Theatre. The movie is slotting most of its top-shelf talent like Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey and of course Ansel Elgort as the title character "Baby."
According to Entertainment, "Baby Driver" is a young getaway driver that works for a crime boss which played by Kevin Spacey. Baby is a gearbox prodigy who never drive without first cueing up its suitable tune. Though he is always aware of his surrounding, he seldom pulls its earbuds out of his ears.
The music drowns out in a constant tinnitus where the movie's high-octane car chases scene where Wright will have an opportunity to choreographed to sync those tracks in gunshots. In the story line, years ago, Baby lost his parents and wound up in under obligation to Spacey's Doc, a criminal accomplice.
The Hollywood also added that Doc hires various crews for its every daring robbery plans, however, Baby is always the wheelman, until Baby meet a diner waitress Debora (Lily James). The two bond together as they shared their taste in music until Baby decided to take the money he makes on his last job and whisk her on a never-ending road trip, however, Doc has different plans.
Baby is coerced out of his retirement and forced to pull another job, but the job goes sour during the planning stage and starts jeopardizing not just Baby's planned trip but also the lives of his loved ones. Wright's script goes through a lazy stretch as it is designed with complications and with a bit thrilling of car-chase audacity.
Baby is violently plowed through its obstacles like he previously danced around and the weight of the crimes he is forced to commit is now coming down on him. Yet, it never slows the movie, as it cranks up everything from Queen to Young MC to Martha Reeves and the Vandellas that always makes sure that Baby will find the right path to love.
