Patrick Stewart has revealed that he uses medical marijuana everyday. In a recent interview, he proudly admits that because of cannabis use, he was able to restore the mobility in his hands and was able to make fists again. The "Star Trek" captain started using medicinal marijuana products two years ago and said that he wants his fellow Brits to open their eyes to this cause. He admits that the use of marijuana for medical treatment has been overshadowed by prejudice, ignorance and fear.

Patrick Stewart enthusiastically recommends the use of cannabis products and revealed that he supports the Oxford University Cannabis Research Plan, CNET reported. He mentioned a few products that he uses every day such as a cannabis spray that he applies on his hands for the relief of arthritis pain and an edible bar and ointment that helps him sleep. He wants people to support the use of medical marijuana and to remove fear and ignorance through education and research.

The "Logan" star said that he started using medical marijuana treatments two years ago. He was examined by a doctor in Los Angeles and was given a permission to purchase cannabis-based medications from a registered outlet, Mail Online reported. Patrick Steward described that the spray evaporates quickly and thus leaves his hands dry. He mentioned a slight tingling sensation after the spray is applied but it was not unpleasant at all. Finally, he claimed that the spray and the ointment were able to reduce the stiffness in his hands and he suffered no side effects at all. Patrick Stewart would have continued taking NSAIDs for his pain but these have negative effects on the liver.

Aside from openly supporting medical marijuana use, very recently, Patrick Stewart made headlines saying that he wants to apply for US citizenship. He said that he wanted to fight and oppose newly-elected president Donald Trump. The British actor said that getting an American passport might be the only good thing that has happened because of the election. He and his wife were in Washington to visit friends to find out what they could do about Trump. In an interview with "The View," he said that he cannot fight unless he is a citizen.
