The canceled NBC comedy "Community" could get a second life and its "Six Seasons and a Movie." Well, at least a sixth season.

It has been reported that Dan Harmon, "Community" creator, Sony Entertainment and Hulu are in talks to bring the comedy hit back. The return of "Community" sounds magical, but it will be challenging.

As reported by Latin Post earlier this month, "Community" was among many TV shows that were canceled this year. "Community" being revived after only a month sounds like a quick decision. Though, the college-based comedy -- about six people trying to manage their lives within a flawed college system -- is only in the preliminary stages of revival, so no decision has been made as of yet. But Sony, Hulu and Harmon all seem willing, Den of Geek reported.

"Community" has a devoted and passionate fan base, and shows like "Community" are what digital platforms crave. According to Deadline, the digital platform has been a blessing and curse for the show because the series is in digital syndication with Hulu as well as Comedy Central. Reportedly, it is thriving on Hulu, which makes it the perfect home for the show, especially since Hulu already carries the series library via an existing agreement with Sony.

Series creator Dan Harmon said on his blog that he was reluctant to continue the show outside of NBC.

"When Sony called me on Friday with the news, there was brief discussion at the end of the call about the concept of the show living elsewhere," he said.

Harmon said he was at first in the "eh" stage but then changed to a "sure," CBS News reported.

If the deal goes through, it could be a win-win situation for all parties involved. This could be a high-profile acquisition for the growing streaming network, Deadline reported. Through Hulu Plus, Hulu reaches more than 6 million subscribers, so it could sustain a network-level comedy.

Hulu's already expanding original programming currently includes shows such as "The Awesomes," "Deadbeat" and "East Los High," as well as Casey Wilson's upcoming Real Housewives parody "The Hotwives of Orlando."

Sony has a great track record for bringing back canceled series, having brought back "Rules of Engagement" and "Damages," which got a second life on Direct TV after it was canceled on FX. Sony also brought back to their original networks canceled shows like "Drop Dead Diva" (Lifetime) and "Unforgettable" (CBS), Deadline reported.

If "Community" returns, it could make some milestones as well as massive changes. The show could see a 13-episode season and could pass the 100-episode mark -- as of now, it is at 97 episodes according to Entertainment Weekly.

This could bring the show's "six seasons and a movie" mantra into reality.
