Good news for Sony lovers, the company has launched a new entry-level smartphone a.k.a. the Xperia L1 for select markets including Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, North America and Latin America.

Although the Xperia L1 doesn't have a specific price, for now, it is being said that it would be a budget phone to go on sale sometime in April. It would be available in three colours: black, white, and pink.

According to Digit, The Sony Xperia L1 sports a 5.5-inches 720p HD display, and is powered by the MediaTek MT6737T chipset. The smartphone is clubbed with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card. The graphics duty here is taken care of by Mali-T720 MP2 GPU. The Xperia L1 sports a 13-Megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5-Megapixel front-facing camera with 24mm wide-angle lens.

India Today reported the Sony Xperia L1 runs on latest Android 7.0 Nougat and backed with a 2620mAh battery. The dual-SIM smartphone also supports 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2 and uses the USB-C port. The handset comes in black, white and pink colour options. There is no confirmation on pricing yet, but keeping in mind about Sony's new smartphone business model, the handset could be pushed to limited markets only.

The Sony Xperia L1 release date is set for 'late April' currently and although there is no rumour heard from any retailers in terms of a price, Sony authority said it will be a budget smartphone. Which means that it will be a budget phone with a price of £150 or under.

Sony only recently launched the first 4K HDR display toting smartphone, aka the Xperia XZ Premium at MWC. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM, a 3,230mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support and Android Nougat software.
