iPhone 8 Official Price Is Now Confirmed
In the most recent news, the prices for Apple's widely rumored high-end iPhone 8 has been confirmed. Equipped with an OLED display, the iPhone 8 is expected to have a starting price of $1,000 and onwards.
However, despite this, UBS analyst Steven Milunovich still believes that a base 64GB iPhone 8 model could still potentially cost at a starting price of either $850 or $900 in the United States. If the numbers are to be true, that price point would likely be similar to Samsung's new Galaxy S8+ smartphone, which costs about $840 to $850.
According to Macrumors, Milunovich still believes that the upcoming flagship iPhone 8 could still start at under $1,000 as part of Apple's so-called mainstream luxury pricing strategy. Milunovich also believes that the 5.8-inch iPhone 8 is also going to be competing at a screen size disadvantage when compared to the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+, which has to lead him to predict that Apple will be adopting similar pricing as Samsung.
The UBS analyst also thinks that a 256GB variant of the iPhone 8 could potentially cost between $950 and $1,000, making the iPhone 8 very well the first mainstream smartphone in the United States to have a four-digit price tag. Miluvich has also predicted that the tentative iPhone 7 and 7S are also going to have their official prices announced soon.
According to Tech News Tube, another research has also cited a statement coming from UBS Asia hardware analyst Arthur Hsieh, who stated that the estimated number that the factory would cost of the iPhone 8 could be right where around $70 to $90 higher than the older iPhone 7, which started at $769. With this theory, Milunovich's prices appear to be just predictions and speculations rather than legit inside sources.
With regards to the new iPhone itself, the iPhone 8 is heavily expected to resemble the Samsung Galaxy S8 in a lot of ways. In addition to an edge-to-edge OLED display with very narrow bezels, other features would include wireless charging, and the possibility of having either 3D facial recognition or iris scanning.
