Russian Prank Callers Tricked Bernie Sanders by Posing as Greta Thunberg

Russian prank callers pretended to be Greta Thunberg while calling Bernie Sanders, a Democratic Party presidential candidate from the United States of America. The pranksters claimed that they were the climate advocate and expressed their support to his presidential race in the 2020 US elections.

Alexey Stolyarov and Vladimir Kuznetsov, the two pranksters who made the call and pretended to be someone else. The two had been victimizing high-profile personalities in the different parts of the world. They had shared the recorded phone call on the video-sharing site YouTube on Thursday.

The prank call was done in the earlier parts of December. However, the two pranksters took two months to decide to release the recordings of the phone call on social media. Their primary reason for the delay was the success of Sanders in New Hampshire and Iowa.

The Series of Prank Calls

On Friday, a representative of the campaign did not give any confirmation about the authenticity of the phone call.

An article from MSN stated that alerts were given to Federal law enforcement officials in November when multiple Democratic Party members received phone calls originating from outside the United States.

The callers claimed to be Thunberg and were requesting to meet in person with Congress members.

Some offices of the members of Congress shared that they had reported the incident to the Capitol Police and the FBI, stated by an official. The official who shared the information revealed that he or she was not authorized to disclose the information to the public.

The Prank Call

In the recording of the phone call, a woman was heard to be pretending as Greta. On the other hand, Stolyarov was pretending to be her father Svante. The group stated their support to the program of a person named Sanders. The man who answered the call appeared to believe the callers' statements.

In the recording, 78-year-old Bernie Sanders replied by requesting Greta to formulate a statement that showcases his support. He even suggested that the two conduct an event in the US when she visits the United States.

The female voice then shared that she will be making a recording of a rap song for Sander's US presidential campaign. The female caller boasted that she will be collaborating with Billie Eilish and Kanye West for the song.

Sanders was trying to end the phone call be giving out a positive remark on the female caller's suggestion. However, the man on the other end said that the female star wants some travel advice when she visits Russia.

Bernie Sanders did not hesitate to give his advice. He told her to be careful about being used for PR reasons.

According to Sanders, Russia and the current president of Russia have a terrible background with climate change. Russia has an abundant deposit of oil. Oil is an important contributor to the well-being of their economy.

The female voice replied by saying that she was taken in by the KGB in 1988 after visiting Russia.

The female caller advised him to fulfill his mission as the next president of the United States. The female advised him to lead communism in the United States of America and coordinate with Russia.

The prank calls were part of their new called 'Stars Save the Earth.' They did this to prank call high-ranking political figures and pretend to be Greta Thunberg.
