Donald Trump Has the Power to Refuse Funding For Sanctuary Cities, Says District Court
The administration of the US President announced on Wednesday that their administration can, in fact, withhold the funds that are granted by jurisdiction to cities that insist on protecting criminal, illegal immigrants from arrest and deportation.
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals showed in their introduction that the principal law question introduced in the appeal that is whether the central government may refuse the grants of money to the state and local government unit it would be still eligible for such awards but the denial to comply with three immigration-related situations imposed by the Attorney General of the United States.
The central government practice found out that the Justice Department was not absolute, dictatorial and constant in imposing and ruling the states and locals that obeys the central government immigration law when distributing the Byrne grant funds. Due to the negligence of the Justice Department the president's administration refused to accept the funds provided by religious cities. The failure to meet the central government's immigration requirements due to sanctuary policies questioned the Trump's administration. The states of New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Washington, Massachusetts and Virginia were questioned with President Trump's decision withholding the 2017 Byrne Program Criminal Justice Assistance grants.
In 2017, General Jeff Sessions forcefully accounted for new requirements that the locals and states must have to follow and they must cooperate with federal immigration officials in order to receive funds like the Byrne grants. The case was filed in the Southern District of New York U.S District Court
This news left comments that have both negative and positive reactions from the people and here are few of those comments:
The comments of the community are mixed as the administration imposed their rule in controlling the funds of the government from the sanctuary jurisdiction. The administration has the power to withhold every fund that was supported because it is in line with congress which approved the administration's appeal.
Comments reveal how states and cities should not have any authority when it comes to undermining federal law. If they refuse to abide by the law, they will be shut down and forced to follow the policies of the administration or else they will be held accountable for their actions.
Comments showed how the citizens were devastated upon the decision of the administration as they received comments from people who are very much sceptical on Trump's accomplishments, on how the tides turned and how the government brought the 9th circuit back to reality.
Other comments also show how liberals never thought of someone who got elected and would come in and and make so many positive changes. The work was not wasted and after the successful three years so far, the job will be easier after the next four years.
The fact of the matter is, certain cities and states depend on illegal immigrants and their families to provide support for the Democratic Party. However, President Trump has made it clear several times, that his administration is here to protect legal, law abiding, tax paying Americans first. And sanctuary cities and states are the exact opposite of those policies.
