Casey Kasem In Critical Condition: Daughter Says His Wife 'Hastened My Father's Death,' Took Away His Medication
Last month, legendary radio personality and disc jockey Casey Kasem went missing. His daughter Kerri Kasem filed a missing person's report for her father who was later found in Washington state with his wife, Jean.
Following the discovery of Casey's whereabouts, reports surfaced that the Kasem daughters did not get along with Jean. The Kasem daughters have even said that Jean has prevented them from seeing their own father despite Kerri winning temporary conservatorship over her father's care.
So it's no surprise now, that Kerri is naming Jean taking off with her dad last month as the reason why Casey is currently being hospitalized and in critical condition.
Casey suffers from Lewy body disease, the most common type of progressive dementia after Alzheimer's, and has been bedridden after being found in Washington state, CNN reports. According to CNN, Casey is alert, but in critical condition. He is currently hospitalized in a facility in Gig Harbor.
The Kasem children are reportedly rushing to be by their father's side for what could be his last breath and blame Jean for their father's deteriorating health.
"Jean took him from the place where he was safe, did not have any bedsores or infections, took him to the Vdara Hotel in Las Vegas, took him to Arizona, couldn't find a hideout, went back to Las Vegas, then found a friend who her parents knew back in the '60s in Guam and took him to Washington," Kerri Kasem told The Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Kerri even went as far as saying that Jean stopped giving her father his medication and put Ensure in his feeding tube instead.
"My dad was moaning and crying, and for three weeks didn't have any pain medication. She tortured him for two-and-a-half weeks," Kerri Kasem continued. "This woman has hastened my father's death."
Whether Jean did in fact "torture" Casey still remains unclear. However Kerri revealed that when all the Kasems arrive to be with their father in the hospital, she hopes that she and Jean can be amicable.
"I only hope that we can put our differences aside so when my dad opens his eyes and takes his last breath we're all there with him," Kerri continued.
