Vatican's Investigation of Mexican Churches Cancelled Due to Coronavirus
Mexico's religious administrators said on March 6 that the Vatican had suspended an administrative sex investigation in Mexico due to the spreading coronavirus in Italy.
In a report the Holy See said that right after its first positive test Thursday the Mexican Episcopal Conference had stopped all international intervention. The Vatican however, did not publicly announce such a ban as well as the Vatican spokesperson did not immediately give comments.
The crucial Mexico, which was declared Monday, was known to have frightened some in the Mexican chain of command. On Tuesday, the Vatican representative to Mexico, Ecclesiastical overseer Franco Coppola, uncovered that the Vatican had been researching four Mexican diocesans since May for purportedly having concealed maltreatment cases.
