One of the rappers credited for starting a national dance craze along with the ultra-catchy hip hop song "Teach Me How to Dougie" passed away on Friday.

JayAre from the rap group Cali Swag District died from cardiac arrest on June 7 after being admitted to the hospital on Thursday for undisclosed reasons. According to MTV News, the 25-year-old rapper battled sickle cell anemia and suffered from a fatal heart attack during his hospital stay. JayAre, who was born Cahron Childs, would have turned 26 later this month.

On Friday, rising California rapper Cobe Obeah broke the news via Twitter, writing, "life is too short. but the afterlife is much better place than here. RIP Jayare @Jayare_CSD," and, "God..smh, my brothas from Cali Swag keeps losing its members. Shine light and spread love on them world."

Fellow Cali Swag District member Smoove Da General also expressed his grief on Twitter.

"Sickle cell took my brother away from me today...with that being said I'm proud to know that with that disease he made the best of his life," he tweeted. "Rest in peace Jayare I'm gonna miss u forever ..I will never get over this..but I know God got u..and I know You got me."

Tragically, JayAre is the second member of the rap group to pass away. In May 2011, Montae "M-Bone" Talbert was killed in a drive-by shooting in the group's hometown of Inglewood, California, only a year after their breakout hit, BET reported. Smoove and Yung are the only surviving members of the former foursome, which rose to national stardom with "Teach Me How to Dougie" in 2010.

Earlier this year, Cali Swag District dropped a mixtape titled "The District," which featured collaborations with other rappers like Nipsey Hussle, Ty Dolla $ign, Waka Flocka Flame and Skeme.
