Popular Maternity store A Pea in the Pod is currently under fire for selling questionable T-shirts that poke fun at a pregnant woman's body size and promotes being skinny.

Today reported that one shirt priced at $48 read, "Wake me up when I'm skinny." Another shirt featured the caption, "I miss my waist."

Naturally women, especially pregnant woman, are highly offended by the T-shirts and took to Twitter to express their dislike toward the controversial tops.

According to Today, women tweeted that the shirts were "disgusting," "disrespectful," and "in poor taste." "Pregnant does not = fat," one woman wrote.

Even a critic from Jezebel.com described the controversial tops as "outrageous" and "crap nonsense."

"From A Pea in the Pod Maternity, this shirt sells for $48. That's probably more outrageous than the crap nonsense that's printed on it. There are lots of things pregnant women need while they are waiting to birth their offspring. I doubt one of them is a shirt that reinforces the idea that there is something wrong with their bodies during pregnancy," said Rebecca Rose from Jezebel.com

Other sites that chimed in on A Pea in the Pod's offensive garments included The Gloss, which said, "Now you can remind everyone around you that the ability to gestate human life is totally unsexy"; and The Belle Jar,which said, "Thank you for contributing to fat-phobia and promoting the idea that women shouldn't be seen or even awake unless they're acceptably thin."

Following the backlash, A Pea in the Pod has discontinued the line of shirts.

The store, which is part of Philadelphia-based Destination Maternity sent an apology statement to the Daily Mail: "We apologize to anyone we may have unintentionally disappointed. We strive to offer products that celebrate pregnancy and are committed to supporting the health and wellness of moms-to-be and their families."
