Lana Del Rey Says Feminism Is Boring: 'Once Upon a Dream' Singer More Interested in Tesla, SpaceX [Video]
Feminism is boring: This is more or less what singer Lana Del Rey said when she was asked about her opinion on gender equality. The 27-year-old singer, who was interviewed by Fader for its June and July issue, answered several questions regarding personal issues. Lana told Fader that she finds SpaceX and Tesla -- and what is the future of "intergalactic possibilities" -- more interesting than feminism. Lana Del Rey was quoted as saying, "My idea of a true feminist is a woman who feels free enough to do whatever she wants."
She also talked about what caused her to be so emotional during her Dublin concert back in March of 2013. For those who don't remember, Lana cried in one of her performances at the Dublin concert, prompting her to turn her back on the audience. Lana later explained that she broke down because she had been sick for two years while doing her concert tour. The devastating part was that the doctors did not know what was wrong with her. It was one of the most trying times in her life because she always felt sick but did not know why she felt that way.
She broke down because she realized the number of fans who care for her when she does not even care that much about herself. The emotion got into her, making her feel heavy and sad, ultimately bring tears to her eyes.
Asked about alcohol, Lana said that hearing people criticize her music is a big temptation to go back to drinking. She further opened up and talked about growing up in a very complicated family situation. Lana confessed that her personal life is very difficult, stressing that it is not only her life but all other members in her extended family unit. Lana also admitted to being the most silent person on set and that she never considered herself to be the star of her own shows.
