Soccer Transfer Rumors 2014: Real Madrid Eye Acquiring Ramires, Iker Casillas Will Not Move to Arsenal
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is very interested in acquiring Chelsea midfielder Ramires in hopes of solidifying their chances of making a big splash again next season.
The Daily Star reported this week that Ancelotti has been making a strong push to acquire Ramires, who he signed during his tenure at Stamford Bridge in 2010.
According to reports, Ancelotti inquired about Ramires' availability in November and is planning to make a play for the 27-year-old Brazilian again this summer, along with Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
However, sources said that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will resist all offers for Ramires, especially after letting veteran Frank Lampard go this summer.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Iker Casillas will stay at the Bernabeu for another season despite reports that said the Spain international is looking to for a change of scenery after losing his starting spot to Diego Lopez in Real Madrid's La Liga campaign.
Previous reports indicated that Arsenal is preparing a deal to acquire the Spain international, but Ancelotti said that Casillas is very happy with Real Madrid.
"Casillas is very happy to stay here, and we are very happy that he wants to stay," Ancelotti said via Daily Mail.
When asked if he will consider moving Casillas back to the starting XI in La Liga next season, the Italian manager said that he is not thinking about it yet because the team is currently enjoying their break.
Ancelotti had a good news for Arsenal, though, as he confirmed that the club will let Morata go this summer, and the Gunners are reportedly the frontrunners in the race to acquire the striker.
"Morata wants to look for an opportunity to get more playing time and the club agrees with him. I think it would be good to give him that opportunity for a year," Ancelotti said. "If he leaves we would like to sign a striker with similar characteristics, a youngster."
