How Much Internet Do Mexican Households Use?
Although Mexico is sometimes viewed as a poor, or even barbaric country, there are actually 80.6 million internet users in Mexico. It represents 70.1 percent of the country's total population, who are at least six years old. This shows an increase of 4.3 percent from 2018 and a 12.7 percent increase from 2015, says a source.

It is estimated that there are 20.1 million households in Mexico that have access to the internet. This means that 56.4 percent of the nation is connected to the internet. Out of the 80.6 million users of the internet in Mexico who are at least six years old, 48.4 percent are men, while 51.6 percent are women.

From 2017 to 2019, internet users from urban areas in Mexico had grown from 71.2 percent to 76.6 percent. In rural areas, the growth was from 39.2 percent to 47.7 percent of the users who are at least six years of age.
Main Means of Connection, Activities, and Problems
The three main ways of people getting connected to the internet in 2019 were smartphones, laptops, and desktops.
The main activities of internet users in 2019 include entertainment, acquiring information, and communication.
Some of the significant problems involved in connecting to the internet include the slow transfer of information, interruptions on the internet service, and excessive unwanted information.
Cellular Technology
Based on ENDUTIH 2019, approximately, Mexico had 86.5 million users of this existing technology. It represents 75.1 percent of the total population of the country who are at least six years old. Also, it had inclined by 3.6 percent over 2015.
The portion of internet users who used a smartphone had grown by 23 percent from 2015 to 2019.
The Use of Computers
Forty-three percent of Mexico's population, who are six years and older, use computers. This percentage is 8.3 percent lower than in 2015. Also, it is two percent lower than in 2018.
The rate of households making use of computers had declined from 44.5 percent in 2015 and 2018 to 44.3 percent in 2019. It shows a drop of 0.6 percent points.
Digital TV
In Mexico, 92.5 percent of the household owns at least a television. Compared to 2018, there has been a decline of more or less half.
There is 76.5 percent of homes with a TV has at least a digital television. It represents a growth of 3.6 percent compared to 2018.

The ENDUTIH 2019 gives information at a country-wide level. It covers reports by the rural and urban scope. Additionally, it covers socioeconomic stratum. Furthermore, its results can be compared to INEGi 2015.
They are the direct responses of households that are random and user-selected. Information is gathered through collecting their personal experience with using ICTs. It allows in-depth information on how the population makes use of these modern technologies.
