Mekayla Diehl Miss Indiana 2014: Miss USA Contestant Praised for Her Normal Body
The 2014 Miss USA contestant Mekayla Diehl is breaking down the stereotype of what it means to be beautiful and the world is taking notice.
Usually, when we think of beautiful, the thought a stick-thin model appears in our minds, however Diehl competed for the title of Miss USA on Sunday by strutting her bodacious curves in a bikini and wowing the audience.
USA Today reports that Diehl is a size four and proud of her "normal sized" body.
"Well, I'm OK with 'normal,'" said Diehl to USA Today. "Whatever defines 'normal.' I guess it's better than being weird."
Diehl also weighed in on her eating habits and her methods of exercise.
"I like to fill my plate with vegetables and protein. I like a good steak, or grilled chicken. I love fish."
She continued, "I take my dog for walks, ride bikes, go on hikes," she said. "I jump rope, I do plyometrics. I feel great."
Diehl was not the only person that felt "great" about her confidence towards her normal figure, the fans watching the Miss USA competition on Sunday night also felt the same.
Diehl was praised by way of Twitter from fans that were excited about a different type of body being represented on the television screen.

Even one fan thanked the Miss Indiana contestant for appearing the way she did during the swimsuit portion of the show.

Although Diehl ultimately did not make it to the top 10 round of the pageant, it certainly shows that she's a winner in many fans' eyes.
So what's next for Diehl?
Well, according to USA Today, Diehl will continue to raise awareness towards child abuse.
"I'm advocating for child abuse awareness. I was sexually abused as a child, so I continue to raise awareness and funds for organizations that help victims," Diehl told USA Today.
