Miami Heat being the Eastern Conference Champion now prepares for the NBA title against LA Lakers after six years when Lebron James was still a part of their team.

This Wednesday, September 30, the Miami Heat will be back in the finals, but this time, they will be up against James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

As if the 2019-2020 season could not be anymore stranger due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be the first time in NBA history that teams contesting the title did not make it to the postseason last year.

The coach Erik Spoelstra had just won 44 games in the regular season abbreviated by COVID-19 and came into the NBA bubble as only the fifth-seeded team in the Eastern Conference.

That did not seem to be a problem for the Miami Heat. They are now headed into the Finals by winning the series 4-2 against the Boston Celtics.

Miami clinched the Eastern Conference title on Sunday, September 27, with a 125-113 win in Game 6.

What a conference series it was as the Miami Heat twice overcame double-digit deficits en route to victories.

It was exactly one year ago that All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler walked into the Heat's practice gym and said that he wanted to be part of the team's title run. And, here he is now after joining the Heat in 2019.

Butler said that he does not look at it as being seeded fifth or first. What it is about is who is playing the best basketball at the right time.

He added that he feels that they have yet to play their absolute best basketball but realized what they have to do moving forward along the way.

This will be the Miami Heat's sixth Finals appearance, who advanced as the lowest-seeded team since 1999. They are also the only NBA franchise with six Finals appearances in the last 15 years.

Spoelstra said it was a great series and very competitive. He added that the Celtics were extremely well-coached and well-put-together and honored to have been part of that series in the conference finals.

According to Spoelstra, the Heat is looking forward to the Finals and will try to enjoy it for a night.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said that Miami deserves a lot of credit. He added the Heat were super physical, super tough, and very, very savvy.

Stevens also said that he thinks the Miami Heat is the best team in the East and deserves to be representing the East, especially with the way they have played.

Celtics point guard Kemba Walker said he has no regrets with the series. He believed that his team fought hard, but he gives credit to the Heat as they were outstanding.

Walker has played in the Playoffs thrice for two different teams, but his team got booted out by the Miami Heat each time.
