First Family and COVID-19: First Lady Melania Trump Reveals Son Baron Trump Also Contracted the Illness

Baron Trump also tested positive for COVID-19, according to first lady Melania Trump.

Baron is the president's 14-year-old-son. He has contracted the disease after both his parents was diagnosed with COVID-19, according to The Daily Beast.

Melania wrote a short essay entitled "My Personal Experience with COVID-19." In the essay, she wrote that her son showed no symptoms of the COVID-19. Melania said that Baron tested negative.

"But again, as so many parents have thought over the past several months, I couldn't help but think 'what about tomorrow or the next day?'" Melania was quoted.

The first lady, however, added that her fear came true when he was tested again and came back with positive results.

Melania said luckily Baron is a strong teenager and showed no symptoms, adding that she was glad the three of them got the disease at the same time.

Melania said that Baron has since tested negative.

The first lady further said that it gave her the opportunity to reflect on her family and on the million of Americans affected by the virus.

She wrote that the most impactful part of her recovery was the chance to reflect on many things.

This includes family, friendships, her work, and staying true to who they are.

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday that Baron is doing "fine" when asked how his son is doing. This after Melania's essay.

Trump also called his 14-year-old son "beautiful" and "free" during a campaign rally in Iowa on Wednesday evening.

Trump added that Baron had it for such a period of time.

"I don't even think he knew he had it, because they're young and their immune systems are strong and they fight it off. 99.9%. And Barron is beautiful and he's free," Trump was quoted in a CNN report.

Melania's Symptoms

The first lady wrote in her personal essay that her symptoms were minimal though were experienced all at the same time.

She said it seemed to be a roller coaster of symptoms in the days after.

The first lady said she had body aches, cough, headaches, and had extreme fatigue.

However, Melania was not hospitalized, unlike the president.

Melania's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said the first lady remained at the White House residence.

Trump also said that the first lady did not went through the same treatment as him, saying that she chose to rely on vitamins and healthy food.

Rose Garden Event

The nation's top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, labeled the event as a possible "super spreader" of COVID-19.

Melania was also seen mask-less during the said event.

The Rose Garden event was held to announce the president's new Supreme Court justice nominee.

Meanwhile, Melania did wear a mask on solo events, which includes a trip last month to New Hampshire.

This was her first travel since the beginning of the pandemic. However, she did not wear a mask when boarding and exiting her government plane.
