Everyone is familiar with the behavioral problem called procrastination. The word originated from the Latin word procrastinatus. The prefix 'pro' means forward and 'crastinatus' which means 'of tomorrow'. This means delaying or postponing something. 

We are all guilty of procastinating at some point in our lives. Have you ever put off doing an important task? It might be because you are hooked on doing miscellaneous things like checking email, social media, watching videos, or surfing blogs.

Typically, instead of doing a task ahead of the deadline, many squander their free time and put off important tasks that they should do until it's too late. And when it is too late, people panic and do the task a night or a day before the scheduled deadline.

1.Break the Tasks Into Little Parts

One of the reasons why many procrastinate over specific tasks is because their work may overwhelm them. If this happens, then the first thing you have to do is to break down into little parts

Remember to focus on one part at a time. If you still procrastinate then break it down even further. The point here is to make your task simple.

2. Change Your Environment

Our working environment matters in doing our tasks. Most of us are confined to our homes due to the global pandemic, but are still forced to work.

If you set your working area inside your bedroom, that would not be a good idea because you might be tempted to sleep. Make sure to have clear boundaries between your working space and resting space to boost productivity.

3. Set Different Deadlines

Having the same deadline on different tasks could also affect your working routine. The first thing that you have to do is to break your tasks and set different deadlines. Just make sure to prioritize your tasks based on urgency. Some people set deadlines on tasks that are easier to be done then they proceed with the difficult tasks. 

4. Hang Out With Positive-Minded People

Spend more time with people who have positive outlooks in life rather than those who think negatively. Be with people who have goals to achieve and not those who do nothing except to gossip or slack off. Remember that positive energy attracts positive vibes!

5. Get A Buddy

Aside from looking for positive-minded people, you also need to look for someone who has goals in life. Both of you don't need to have the same goals. The idea here is that you get a buddy and asked him or her about the progress of his or her task. Through this, you will be motivated to work by comparing your progress.
