Daniel Radcliffe may be a teetotaler nowadays, but it wasn't always like this.

The "Harry Potter" star has opened up about alcohol, saying that at times he would show up to set drunk, according to the Mirror.

"I would have benefited from not drinking," he said. "It was not making me as happy as I wanted it to."

But he only turned to drinking in the first place to cope with fame.

"It is not a real pressure, but it is a pressure of living with the thought, 'Oh, what if all these people are saying I am not going to have a career?" he said. "What if they are all going to be right and will be laughing and I will be consigned to a bunch of 'Where are they now?' lists?"

Radcliffe, 24, has been sober since August 2010.

Now, he's able to better deal with the pressures, and he has decided not to be bitter about the 10 years he spent working on "Harry Potter."

This new interview will air on Sky Arts later this year, but it's not the first time the star has opened up about his troubled past. He had previously admitted that he would show up drunk to "Harry Potter."

"People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don't want to go into details. But I drank a lot, and it was daily -- I mean nightly," he said in a 2012 interview. "I can honestly say I never drank at work on 'Harry Potter.' I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I'm just gone. Dead behind the eyes."

He realized he was very lucky that his partying ways were not captured by the paparazzi.
