Jared Remy, son of Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, faces murder and domestic assault and battery charges, says ESPN.

According to the report, Remy was involved in the murder of 27-year old Jennifer Martel. Martel was found dead Thursday night on a patio outside of a Waltham apartment complex.

Martel and Remy have been in a dating relationship for 7 years. The couple reportedly has a 4-year old daughter who was at the apartment during the incident said the Boston Globe.

According to neighbor Benjamin Ray, he tried to help Martel by stopping Remy from repeatedly stabbing her with a knife.

"It's not an easy thing to watch. It's not an easy thing to try and stop,'' Ray told the Boston Globe. "I did what I could to stop it. And it wasn't enough,'' he continued.

Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said that Martel sustained multiple stab wounds. "Police received 911 calls, arrived and discovered there appeared to have been a struggle inside and outside," Ryan said.

Police officers responded to the 911 call and arrived at the apartment at around 10 p.m. The police officers who responded to the call reported that Remy was covered in blood and that there was evidence of struggle throughout the apartment. Martel was found outside on a patio with multiple stab wounds. Remy and Martel's 4-year old daughter was found unharmed inside of the apartment.

In a report by ESPN, prosecutors in court described the incident as "a brutal and determined attack" and said that Remy assaulted Martel in the kitchen, living room, on a stairway and then pinned her to the ground in the patio where he stabbed her several times."

Remy pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, domestic assault and battery but was ordered held without bail.

In the past, Remy admitted to beating up a former girlfriend, says ABC News. According to Waltham Court District records, he has a total of 15 criminal charges since 1998 including accusations of assaulting 4 women and 1 man. He was also involved in at least three restraining orders.

Remy was a former Red Sox security staffer but was fired in 2008. The team's decision was made after a steroid investigation.

NESN has released a statement regarding the incident. "All of us at NESN and the Red Sox, along with Jerry Remy, are filled with grief for everyone involved, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Jennifer Martel," the statement read.
