The Broncos missed out on the chance to get Aaron Rodgers, as the four-time NFL MVP is ready for another season with the Green Bay Packers.

The quarterback is returning to the team after agreeing to a four-year, $200 million contract extension, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, in a deal that will make him the NFL's highest-paid player based on average annual salary. The deal also includes $153 million guaranteed.

Rodgers surpasses quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, who earns $45 million on his current contract.

Rodgers cleared things up on Twitter that he was returning to the team but claimed the "supposed terms" of the deal were inaccurate.

He ended the tweet with: "I'm very excited to be back. #Year18"

Rodgers reached his conclusion after nearly two months of weighing alternatives of retirement or pursuing a trade with another team.

The move brings an end to arguably the most turbulent chapter of Rodgers' 17-year NFL career, which has been spent entirely with the Packers, USA Today reported.

Aaron Rodgers Back In Action With Packers

Last spring, Rodgers reportedly sought a trade from the franchise for which he had spent his whole career. For the first time, he skipped mandatory minicamp before heading to training camp.

Many assumed Rodgers' final season in Green Bay would be in 2021, based on his indications of frustration with general manager Brian Gutekunst and Packers brass.

Rodgers, on the other hand, put together a campaign that resulted in him being named NFL's MVP for the second year in a row and for the fourth time in his career.

Rodgers also acknowledged that he was considering all options for 2022, including retirement after the top-seeded Packers were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.

However, following the season, Rodgers praised the Packers, thanking Gutekunst and the rest of the team's front office in his MVP award speech.

On Tuesday's episode of "The Pat McAfee Show," Rodgers said his exit interview was "much different" in a "positive way" compared to last year.

With Rodgers back in action, the Packers will now focus on preserving the core of a team that has gone 39-10 in the last three years.

Davante Adams, the All-Pro receiver and Rodgers' favorite target, was later issued the franchise tag by Green Bay on Tuesday, preventing him from becoming an unrestricted free agency.

Broncos Land Seahawks QB Russell Wilson

The Denver Broncos landed their long-awaited franchise quarterback - just not the one many expected.

Not long after news surfaced that Rodgers had decided to stay with the Packers, the Broncos agreed to acquire nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, according to NFL Network.

The Seahawks will receive two first-rounders, two second-rounders, a fifth-rounder, quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive tackle Shelby Harris, while the Broncos will also get a fourth-round pick.

The agreement, which requires Wilson to renounce his no-trade clause, puts an end to the Seahawks' stunning 10-year reign. Wilson went from a third-round pick to a Day 1 starter and ushered in the franchise's most successful era, which included the team's first Super Bowl victory over the Broncos in 2013.

Seattle reached the postseason eight times under Wilson and only had one losing season in 2021 when he missed three games with a finger injury in a 7-10 campaign.

The move comes just six days after Pete Carroll, the Seahawks coach, said that the team had no plans to trade Wilson.
