Talks about a fourth stimulus check this 2022 are back. The federal government has already provided roughly $5 trillion in stimulus money into the economy from March 2020 to February 2022.

GO Banking Rates reported that around $1.8 trillion went directly to individuals and families, while $1.7 trillion went to businesses.

President Joe Biden's administration seems to be focused on infrastructure spending. On the other hand, economists warned that additional stimulus would spike inflation rates. The unemployment rate remains to be increasing, with Americans still struggling.

A fourth stimulus check to recurring $2,000 monthly payments has been pushed, but it was likely on pause, if not over entirely. Thus, some states address the matter on their own, granting more aid to their residents, such as the case in California.

Stimulus Check 2022 in California

California Governor Gavin Newsom's office announced the state would be allocating an $18.1 billion inflation relief package to get money to California's residents.

Newsom said in a press release that many people are still struggling with high costs due to inflation, which prompted them to leverage the "historic surplus" to help Californians.

The Democratic governor's inflation relief package includes $11.5 billion for tax refunds to help address inflation, wherein eligible registered vehicle owners are proposed to receive $400 checks, capped at two checks per individual.

A $2.7 billion emergency rental assistance fund was also pushed through, and a $1.4 billion budget to help Californians pay past-due utility bills.

A $933 million funding is also allotted for hospital and nursing home staff, handing out up to $1,500 to hospital and skilled nursing facility workers.

Newsom has also pushed forth incentive grants to provide three months of free public transportation for communities throughout the state with a budget worth $750 million.

Child care fees for low-income families worth $157 million would also benefit 40,000 low-income California families, saving them up to $595 per month.

Stimulus Check Update 2022 in Alaska

Alaska State government has also addressed the needs of its residents by granting cash payments of up to $5,500. Marca News reported that the Alaska State Senate approved the $5,500 stimulus check with a 15-5 vote in favor of the legislation.

The package includes a $1,300 check to relieve the cost of energy bills. The state of Alaska will also increase its dividend payments to $2.8 billion.

According to Newsweek, it remains unclear if Americans could see a fourth round of stimulus payments from the federal government.

However, homeowners throughout the United States could be eligible for additional financial aid, now under the Homeowner Assistance Fund.

The Treasury Department noted that the purpose of HAF is to "prevent mortgage delinquencies and defaults, foreclosures, loss of utilities or home energy services." In addition, it would alleviate the displacement of homeowners experiencing financial hardship after January 21, 2020.

U.S. homeowners seeking financial assistance through HAF can view the status of their state's respective program on the National Council of State Housing Agencies website.
