Texas School Shooting Update: Mom of Shooter Can't Believe Her Son Shot His Grandmother
The mom of the suspect in the Texas school shooting that killed at least 21 individuals, cannot believe that her son shot his grandmother.
Adriana Reyes, the mother of the shooter identified as Salvador Ramos, was reportedly in disbelief that her son was capable of the violence on Tuesday. The reaction of Reyes was revealed by the mother of Reyes' boyfriend, Maria Alvarez, to Fox News.
According to Alvarez, Reyes' father told her that Ramos shot his grandmother, but the mom did not believe her father.
"She said, 'I don't believe that my son would do that. He loved my mom," Reyes reportedly said according to Alvarez.
The Daily Mail noted that Ramos shot his grandmother in the face before he went on a rampage at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
Alvarez added that Reyes and her wounded mother immediately went to San Antonio following the shooting. However, the duo went back to Alvarez's home in Uvalde looking for her boyfriend, looking shocked after what happened.
"I came back because I have to find my son. I don't know where he's at," Reyes allegedly said according to Alvarez.
Alvarez further noted that she never met the Texas school shooter. However, Reyes would frequently share with her the issues she is having with her son. Alvarez noted that the fights between Reyes and the Texas school shooter revolved around school because Ramos was supposed to graduate from high school this year.
Mom of Texas School Shooter Says Her Son Is Not a 'Violent Person'
The mom of the Texas school shooter claimed that Ramos was not a "violent person."
Reyes made her statement in an interview, pointing out that she was surprised that her son opened fire in Robb Elementary School. Reyes was speaking at the hospital where her mother was being treated.
The mom also shared that the last time she talked with Ramos was during his birthday when she said that she has a card and a Snoopy stuffed animal to give to him.
Reyes then slammed the reports that she had a toxic relationship with her son, which allegedly caused him to have a "twisted" personality.
"I had a good relationship with him. He kept to himself; he didn't have many friends," Reyes underscored.
The mom of the Texas school shooter then extended her thoughts to the affected Texas school shooting.
"I pray for those families. I'm praying for all of those innocent children, yes I am. They [the children] had no part in this," Reyes said.
Meanwhile, the shooter's grandfather, Rolando Reyes, told ABC News earlier today that the family was kept in the dark about the lethal firearms that he bought. He added that if he knew that his grandson had weapons, he would have reported it to the authorities.
Texas School Shooting
Ramos was among the dead after he opened fire at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
The death toll of the tragedy rose to 19 students and two adults.
A former classmate of Ramos revealed that the Texas school shooter texted him photos of a firearm he had and a bag full of ammunition days before the attack. The friend also added that others taunted Ramos in his class for the clothes he wore and his family's financial situation.
Authorities also revealed on Wednesday that a series of messages the morning of the Texas school shooting revealed that Ramos sent "I'm going to shoot my grandmother," "I've shot my grandmother," and then: "I'm going to shoot an elementary school."
