Abortion Protests: Actress Jodie Sweetin Swept by Los Angeles Police During Demonstrations

Actress Jodie Sweetin was among the witness to the rising tensions and clashes during abortion protests across the United States.

On Sunday, recorded footage uploaded by the page with the handle @theprogressivists showed Sweetin being mishandled by the Los Angeles police officers while she was participating in an abortion rights protest.

Sweetin was reportedly speaking into a megaphone on the side of a freeway during a protest, according to New York Post. Freelance photojournalist Michael Ade said that Sweetin was attempting to lead a group of peaceful protesters.

The video footage showed that Sweetin was pushed by multiple officers from Los Angeles police. Sweetin was seen dunked into the ground as others protested and helped the actress get back on her feet.

Another protester was also heard saying: "What the f-k is wrong with you guys," in the background.

The Los Angeles Police Department commented on the footage that circulated online, claiming that their department was aware of the video clip featuring a woman pushed to the ground.

"The force used will be evaluated against the LAPD's policy and procedure," LAPD said in a statement.

Abortion Protests: Tension Between Protesters and Police Rise in Oregon, Arizona

Days before Sweetin was pushed by the law enforcement authorities in Los Angeles, the states of Arizona and Oregon also witnessed clashes between their police and abortion protest attendees.

In Oregon, at least 10 abortion protest demonstrators were arrested by the authorities on Friday night. They were reportedly part of a group of more than 75 people who were "committing disorderly conduct."

An officer reportedly attempted to use the public address system to separate the group. However, an unknown person from the crowd allegedly threw smoke bombs at the officers along with several filled water bottles.

Nine people were charged with disorderly conduct, while one was additionally charged with escape in the third-degree and resisting arrest. Another demonstrator was charged with harassment.

Meanwhile, Arizona state troopers utilized tear gas on also on Friday, as abortion protesters also gathered outside the state capitol.

Republican Senate President Karen Fann described the protest as an attempted insurrection, while protest leaders said that that move from the Arizona state troopers was an overreaction of their local government.

Supreme Court Overturns Roe v. Wade

On Friday, The Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade case, stripping away women's constitutional rights to abortions.

The Supreme Court's decision on Friday prompted abortion clinics in several states, including Arizona, Alabama, Wisconsin, and West Virginia, to stop performing the procedure.

President Joe Biden commented on the decision imposed by the highest court, claiming that Friday was a "sad day for the court and the country.

"This decision must not be the final word," Biden added.

The decision on Friday also built protests in different cities, opposing the decision vested by the Supreme Court.
