This is becoming an annual occurrence for the Cleveland Cavaliers. For the third time in the last four years, the team has the No. 1 overall pick. This will also be their fourth No. 1 overall selection in the last 12 years.
Who will they pick? And who will be drafted at No.3, the famous spot that has yielded such superstars like Michael Jordan, Penny Hardaway, Carmelo Anthony, James Harden and Pau Gasol?
Latin Post.com takes a look at the potential order of the top 5 picks for Thursday's draft:
1. Cleveland Cavaliers
Jabari Parker - Duke
This is a really tough decision. Both Wiggins and Jabari Parker are talented forwards who have much potential to make it in the NBA. In the end, the Cavs should likely go with Parker. Both Parker and Wiggins only started and played one year of college ball, so we didn't get to see much of either. Parker averaged more points, more rebounds, and more blocks per game than Wiggins.
2. Milwaukee Bucks
Andrew Wiggins - Kansas
The Bucks have the easiest selection of any team. Whoever the Cavs take at No. 1 (Wiggins or Parker), simply select the other player at No. 2. Sort of like Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III in the NFL Draft two years ago. Wiggins is a good forward who is always committed to playing defense. For a forward, Wiggins is a very good free throw shooter and can even hit from the outside when unguarded.
3. Philadelphia 76ers
Joel Embiid - Kansas
This is where things get really risky. Joel Embiid is the best center coming out in this year's draft, but many questions and concerns remain with his health. The 7-foot-tall center out of Cameroon, Africa played terrific ball last season, but missed the NCAA Tournament because of a foot injury. Recently it was reported that Embiid will have to miss several months due to surgery on that foot, which required screws to be inserted. Is he worth the risk for the 76ers?
4. Orlando Magic
Marcus Smart- Oklahoma State
Unlike the other three listed above, Smart has two years of playing experience. Smart is an all-around skilled point guard who can score from anywhere on the court. He can also play shooting guard and is compared frequently to Russell Westbrook. Smart is also a very good defender. However, despite his strengths, general managers and owners may be a little hesitant to draft Smart early because he isn't a true point guard like a John Stockton or a Gary Payton.
5. Utah Jazz
Aaron Gordon- Arizona
Gordon played very well last season for Arizona, shooting almost 50 percent from the field. He's probably the most underrated player in this year's draft because of his skills. Gordon isn't a Tim Duncan-like forward; he's more of a Charles Barkley type. This could be a steal for the Jazz at the No. 5 spot and bring some excitement to Utah fans. Gordon is also a good defender. Unfortunately, his free throw shooting is very poor. Whether or not that affects his draft position will be interesting to see.
