Michigan Dad Who Fell Prey to QAnon Killed Wife and Family Dog, Shot Daughter in Back and Legs
Detroit police officers killed a Michigan dad who embraced a QAnon conspiracy theory after he fatally shot his wife and family dog and injured his daughter.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Igor Lanis, 53, was killed after he emerged from their Glenwood Court home in Detroit with a shotgun. Police said Lanis shot at responding police officers, who fired back and killed the suspect, Crime Online reported.
When the Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputies investigated his home, they found his wife, Tina Lanis, 56, and the family dog shot to death. Police said the dog had been shot several times by the Michigan dad.
Officers also found Lanis' 25-year-old daughter, Rachel Lanis, trying to crawl out of the house after being shot multiple times in the back and legs by her father.
PEOPLE reported that police were able to drag her to safety and take her to a local hospital. She is reportedly in stable condition now. No officers were injured.
Police said they received Rachel's "chilling" 911 call at around 4:11 a.m., saying that her dad had shot her and killed her mom.

Daughter Blames QAnon Conspiracy Theory For Michigan Dad's Actions
His youngest daughter, Rebecca Lanis, recently spoke to Detroit News. She was not home at the time of the shooting. Rebecca believed her dad's mental health battles and his fascination with the QAnon conspiracy theory may have played a part in his dad's actions.
The QAnon conspiracy theory is a false belief that former president Donald Trump is battling a group of Satan-worshipping Democrats and pedophiles in politics and media. She said her dad's recent online interest in extremism and conspiracy theories brought him into a psychological downward spiral.
"It really brought him down when he was reading all those weird things on the internet... Nobody could talk him out of them," Rachel told the outlet.
She also has a message for everyone. She said: "Right-wing extremism is not funny, and people need to watch their relatives; and if they have guns, they need to hide them or report them or something because this is out of control."
Rebecca described her parents as "extremely loving and happy," but said that after falling down the Q rabbit hole, her dad became obsessed, especially after Trump lost the election in 2020.
First Time Walled Lake's Police Officer in Michigan Ever Shot Anybody
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard spoke to the media following the incident. There, he revealed that Rachel Lanis suffered "super traumatic injuries" to her back and legs.
A neurologist has reportedly been called in to assess her condition, especially her legs. The sheriff noted that it was Walled Lake Police Department's first shooting by an officer in the department's history.
He noted that there was a real danger to anybody, as the Michigan dad already had his keys with him, and no one knew where he was heading. The sheriff then said that this incident was "terribly sad on so many levels."
