An 80-year-old California woman was out for a morning walk in San Bernardino County Friday morning when two dogs attacked her. She died following the attack.

According to a statement from the Victor Valley Sheriff's Station, two Dogo Argentino breed dogs from a nearby home attacked Soon Han. The incident happened around the area of Vinton Street and Mesa Road.

NBC News reported that deputies responded to a call at around 11 a.m. When the police arrived, they found the California woman in the roadway and was already unresponsive.

Owner of Dogs That Attacked the California Woman Cooperating With Police

According to Crime Online, Soon Han suffered numerous major injuries from the dog attack. Police said in the statement that Han was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities noted that the owner of the two dogs was soon located and is now cooperating with the investigation. The dogs were captured and taken to San Bernardino County Animal Care & Control.

Police said the California woman was walking her own dogs when the two Dogo Argentinos attacked and mauled her to death. Dogo Argentinos are often described as a large, white, muscular breed of dog.

They were initially bred in Argentina for big-game hunting, including wild boar. Males can reach a weight of around 40 to 45 kg. These dogs, which look like big pit bulls, usually have a tolerant and friendly temperament, but like most dogs, they can get very protective and territorial.

Many describe this breed as one of the world's most unstable dog breeds, as they can be friendly one moment and then suddenly become agitated. This has led the breed to be banned in many countries, including the United Kingdom.

Family's Pit Bulls Kill 2 Children, Hospitalize Mother in Tennessee

In Tennessee, two children and their mother were attacked by the family's two pit bulls inside their home. The mother, Kirstie Jane Bennard, 30, suffered multiple injuries when she tried to rescue her two children from the dogs but managed to survive.

However, her 5-month-old son, Hollace Dean, and 2-year-old daughter Lilly Jane were not so lucky.

"She put her body on top of Lilly's to try and protect her after the attack started," said Jeff Gibson, the uncle of Bennard's husband.

According to People, the attack happened on October 5 and lasted around 10 minutes. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said the two children died at the scene. Their mother was taken to a local hospital and is now in stable condition. The two dogs who attacked them, Cheech and Mia, were euthanized.

They had been with the family for eight years, and it is still unknown why they attacked the two children. And the sheriff's office said it is "still an active, ongoing investigation." A GoFundMe Page has been set up to help the family.
