Rebel Wilson Welcomes First Baby via Surrogate, Reveals the Special Meaning Behind Her Daughter's Name
Australian actress and comedian Rebel Wilson welcomed her first baby via surrogate. The "Bridesmaids" and "Pitch Perfect" actress posted Royce Lillian Elizabeth Wilson's first photo online and called her a "beautiful miracle," and thanked the surrogate, whom she called "gorgeous," for carrying her baby.
"I can't even describe the love I have for her, she's a beautiful miracle! I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making," said Wilson, 42.
"But particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care. Thank you for helping me start my own family, it's an amazing gift. The best gift!" she added.
Rebel Wilson's Partner Ramona Agruma Hosted a Gorgeous Baby Shower
Before the surrogate delivery of Rebel Wilson's baby, the actress' partner Ramona Agruma hosted a "gorgeous" baby shower. Wilson told People on Monday that she was excited about the party and that the fashion designer had gone above and beyond to make that day special.
Wilson said her girlfriend planned her baby shower with a group of close friends and "went above and beyond to make it a special day." The actress noted that it was the "most gorgeous baby shower with friends from around the world," adding that Agruma was an amazing and great partner.
According to Page Six, the news of Agruma dating Wilson broke in June, just one month after the actress teased that she was happy in a relationship.
"I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince... but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess #loveislove," the "Senior Year" star captioned her first Instagram selfie with Agruma.
Before their romance began, Rebel Wilson had her eggs frozen and spoke candidly about her desire to have children.
Rebel Wilson Explains the Meaning of Daughter's Name
Rebel Wilson explained why she chose the name she picked for her baby. According to Today, the actress wanted an original name that starts with an "R," so she eventually landed on "Royce."
She added that "Lillian" and "Elizabeth" are both names carried by women in her family that she really admires. Elizabeth is also her middle name, which was after the late Queen.
Wilson's personal life has recently received attention for reasons other than the birth of a new child. She rejected claims that she and Ramona Agruma, with whom she revealed her courtship in June, were planning to marry earlier this month.
Meanwhile, in the upcoming IFC Films movie "The Almond and the Seahorse," Wilson plays a wife who tries to help her husband recover from a terrible brain injury.
The first teaser for Wilson's new film premiered exclusively to People on Tuesday. The movie shows the difficulties that numerous characters in the film confront as they deal with the long-term consequences of their partners' health troubles.
According to the film's description, archeologist Sarah (Wilson) struggles with the complexities of her husband Joe's (Celyn Jones) traumatic brain injury, while architect Toni (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and her girlfriend Gwen (Trine Dyrholm) "have been imprisoned in a fifteen-year loop" due to a similar injury.
Wilson's new movie will be available in select theaters and to rent on Prime Video and Apple TV on December 16.
