Donald Trump's presidential run announcement was largely met with indifference and raised eyebrows as it was marred by big Republican losses. His legal troubles are also mounting, and after the Supreme Court allowed the House to see his tax returns, Trump went on a rant against the highest court in the land.

This rant came a day after the Supreme Court, which is dominated by conservatives, including three Trump nominees, unanimously rejected his request to block Congress from seeing his tax returns.

"Why would anybody be surprised that the Supreme Court has ruled against me, they always do," he wrote on Truth Social.

The former president railed on against the Supreme Court and stated that it has "lost its honor, prestige, and standing, & has become nothing more than a political body." He added that the United States is "paying the price" and wrote, "Shame on them!"

His rant continued and noted that the Supreme Court previously refused to take cases regarding his request to overturn his 2020 presidential election loss to President Joe Biden. However, CNBC pointed out that neither he nor his campaign managed to prove election fraud claims in dozens of lawsuits around the country.

Donald Trump's Fight To Keep Tax Returns a Secret Ending Soon

The fight for the Trump tax returns has been a cause for contention since he announced his run for the presidency in 2015. He refused to release them as he stated that the IRS was still auditing them. He has kept up this excuse throughout his presidency and was the only U.S. president in history to have never released any of his tax returns.

When the Democrats took over the House in 2019, the House Ways and Means Committee tried to gain access to those tax returns, but Trump, his lawyers, and the Trump treasury Department fought them all the way, refusing to release the then-president's tax returns.

With the Supreme Court ruling in favor of the House, the Democrat-led House Ways and Means Committee only has a few weeks left to view those tax returns before the Republicans take over in January.

However, Texas House Representative Lloyd Doggett (D), a member of that committee, admitted to CNN that it is still not certain whether those tax returns will be released to the public. They were still subject to privacy protections, though he did say that the panel did have the option of releasing the documents publicly.

Donald Trump Facing Another Lawsuit from Author E. Jean Carrol

Trump is already facing legal battles from various fronts, from the January 6 Hearings to the Georgia Election Probe to the New York Trump Organization probe to the Mar-a-Lago Documents Case and the tax returns fight. However, he is facing yet another lawsuit from author E. Jean Carroll.

According to CNBC, Carroll accused former President Donald Trump of rape and filed an upgraded lawsuit against him Thursday in New York. This lawsuit came after a new state law took effect. This new law allowed victims of sexual violence, including rape, to sue their attackers or rapists over incidents that happened decades ago.

Carroll was a long-time columnist at Elle Magazine and admitted in her 2019 book that the former president raped her in the dressing room of a Manhattan luxury department store in 1995 or 1996. However, Trump denied the allegations and said the author was not his type. This led to her filing a defamation lawsuit against the former president, which is currently tied up in an appeals court.

Trump made those comments as president, and the Carroll lawsuit sparked a debate in the courts on whether Trump's words are protected by his position.
