A Mexican woman, identified as 51-year-old Blanca Arellano, was found washed up on a beach earlier this month after she traveled to Peru to meet her online boyfriend, who was a medical student.

Arellano told her family that she was taking a trip to Lima, Peru, where she planned to meet her online boyfriend, who was identified as 37-year-old Juan Pablo Jesus Villafuerte.

The two had several months of online courtship before deciding to meet up in person.

Arellano told her niece, Karla Arellano, on November 7 that the romance between the two was "going well." However, the 51-year-old Mexican woman stopped communicating with her family after that.

Villafuerte told Arellano's niece that they had broken up as he "couldn't offer the life she wanted" and that her aunt was traveling back to Mexico. Karla tweeted that she decided to communicate with Villafuerte as he was the only contact she had in that country. She added that they started getting scared upon communicating with the Peruvian man.

Mexican Woman Murdered in Peru

Arellano had not raised any red flags at the time that would give her relatives any cause for concern.

Karla's posts about her missing aunt had gained hundreds of likes, retweets, and comments. Her post read that her aunt disappeared on November 7 in Peru and that their family feared for her life.

When Karla connected with Villafuerte, she noted that the medical student's description of her aunt's behavior was "extremely uncharacteristic" of Arellano.

In a post, she tweeted that her aunt would not disappear without any warning. Karla followed up in one of the posts that Villafuerte has not expressed any want to cooperate with information.

Instead, Villafuerte told Karla that he had done "his role" and could no longer assist the family in locating Arellano. He further claimed that he did not know anything else and that he was saying it "with sadness."

Peruvian authorities then launched a probe regarding the missing Mexican woman's case after Karla's post started to gain more engagement online.

Mexican Woman's Body Parts Discovered

Investigators found a severed finger on the beach of Huacho, but the fingertips had been removed. A silver ring was found still attached to the severed finger.

Authorities also found a faceless head and then an arm a day later. A torso without any organs inside appeared in the same location the next day.

Investigators eventually identified Arellano through her family by the ring on the finger that was recovered.

Villafuerte was arrested on November 17 as the main suspect in Arellano's murder.

Peru General Attorney told local news on Monday that Juan Pablo Villafuerte was arrested on charges of human organs and trafficking.

Villafuerte reportedly posted TikTok videos of human organs days after Arellano's disappearance.

Investigators also said that they found traces of blood all over his apartment.
